SLC launch OET Nursing Writing MOOC

We’re delighted to announce the launch of our first MOOC, an online video course for nurses who want to improve their scores in the OET Nursing test.

MOOC stands for Massive Open Online Course, essentially an online course that is available worldwide for anyone to take. There are a number of well-known MOOC platforms, including Coursera, EdX and Udemy.

We chose to publish our course on Udemy as it offers powerful publishing tools, a great learning experience on all platforms and real global reach. Learners get lifetime access to the course, so they can come back at any time to refresh what they have learnt.

Why OET Nursing Writing?

OET Nursing Writing is the most challenging of the four OET sub-tests for many candidates wanting to achieve the OET scores they need to work in the UK, US, Ireland and elsewhere. Often it is not a question of language level, but more knowing what the examiners are looking for and which strategies and techniques to use.

As experienced OET publishers and teachers, we know there is a real need for affordable, high-quality content focusing specifically on the Writing paper.

What’s in the course?

The course is a step-by-step guide to OET Nursing Writing – how to approach the paper, how to analyse the case notes and the task, what format and style to use when writing a letter, how to express purpose, and how to turn the notes into high-level, accurate sentences.

Learners see what the examiners are looking for and analyse examples of both good and bad answers. There are also extensive videos focusing on key grammar and vocabulary areas.

There are 4 hours of video and 23 downloadable resources. At the end, learners receive a certificate of completion.

The comprehensive nature of the course means that when learners take the Writing test, they know the language, strategies and techniques they need to use to perform at their best.

Who wrote the course?
