2020 hasn't exactly turned out as everyone was expecting it to thanks to the pandemic, and this is the main reason why the World Health Organization (WHO) has extended the Year of the Nurse and Midwife in Europe.
This year was meant to celebrate nurses and midwives in order to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, an English social reformer, statistician and the founder of modern nursing through the establishment of the nursing school at St Thomas' Hospital in London.
The extension of this campaign will give many institutions the opportunity to celebrate the amazing work that nursing and midwifery professionals do every day with all their patients, not only in 2020 but throughout their careers.
We want to thank all the nurses and midwives for their hard work and dedication. Next year’s extension is truly well deserved.
