Coming soon! Medical Terminology course

Written by Chris Moore | Apr 26, 2019

Delighted to announce that we are in the process of finalising SLC’s new online Medical Terminology course! This course is the perfect primer for anyone wanting to get to grips with the ins and outs of medical terminology and combines seamlessly with SLC’s other online Medical English courses such English for Doctors, Nurses or Care.

The course is written by SLC’s Head of Medical English and world-renowned Medical English writer, speaker and trainer, Virginia Allum. Virginia has organised the course by sections of the body, including the top, middle, bottom and overall; key terminology patterns such as Latin and Greek roots, prefixes and suffixes; and specific focuses on areas such as eponyms or the use of everyday language instead of medical terms.

The medical terms cover parts of the body, symptoms, conditions, treatments and procedures – from the parietal bone to the sacrum to the hallux and everything in between. There are plenty of activities, including pronunciation guides so you can practise saying some of the longest words in the English language!

The course is authored and hosted on cutting edge software provided by Avallain and is being edited by SLC’s new editor, Sara Harden. We’re in the studio recording the audio on May 1st – pronunciation is key to the course – and will be releasing the course at the end of May.
