New grammar course for healthcare students and professionals

Written by Chris Moore | Feb 10, 2021

SLC is delighted to announce the launch of a new online grammar course for healthcare students and professionals.

30 units of content

Essential Grammar for Healthcare has 30 units and covers a wide range of verb forms, tenses and grammar functions. The course is set at an A2 and B1 level, so elementary and lower-intermediate.

Students learn how to talk about the present, past and future; use conditionals and passives; use articles, adverbs, adjectives and prepositions; ask for advice, make requests, give instructions and make suggestions; describe possibility, ability and necessity; and much more.

A practical healthcare focus throughout

The course is set in a healthcare context throughout. It shows clearly how grammar is used in practical healthcare situations when talking to patients and professionals.

The language is presented through a variety of topics, from common diseases and treatments, to technology in healthcare, to mental health, to Covid-19.

Up-to-the-minute learning and teaching platform

Students take the course on a cutting-edge learning platform. Content includes videos, interactive recording tasks, over 30 downloadable PDFs and many different types of practice activities.

And if a school or university wants to use the course with their students, they can track progress, set homework and see learner submissions on a specially-branded teaching platform.

The course is online so can be taken wherever a student has a connection.

Internationally-renowned author

We’re delighted to have Ros Wright author the course. Ros has over 20 years’ experience working with healthcare professionals and students and is a very well-known medical English writer, speaker and trainer.

Her many publications include Good Practice (Cambridge University Press), English for Nursing 1 & 2 (Pearson Longman), OET Speaking & Writing Skills Builder (Express Publishing), English for Medicine in Higher Education Studies (Garnet) and English for Health and Social Care Workers (Pavilion Publishing).
