SLC and EALTHY webinar: OET issues and how to solve them

Written by Chris Moore | Jul 15, 2022

Expert OET teacher and author, Tom Fassnidge, is giving a free webinar on how to deal with a number of common issues facing OET teachers. The webinar, part of our series with English for healthcare teachers’ association, EALTHY, takes place on July 22nd at 10.00 UK time.

During his presentation, Tom will look at some key challenges he and the OET team have faced at SLC over the years. They include initial level assessment, how to progress students to the level they require to achieve registration, for example with the NMC or GMC in the UK, and how to use their clinical skills, experience and professional knowhow to support their classroom learning.

Tom really knows what he’s talking about. Since OET was recognised in the UK in 2017, he has taught thousands of hours of OET preparation classes to groups of nurses and doctors from around the world, including for NHS Trusts in the UK and international refugee organisations. Tom is also author of OET Reading & Listening Skills Builder, published by Express Publishing in 2020.

Throughout the session, Tom will share classroom tips and techniques to help teachers bring the best out of their students. It’s a must-attend session for any academic manager of teacher getting to grips with preparing healthcare professionals for OET.

If you cannot attend the webinar, it will be recorded and stored in the Members Area of EALTHY along with the other webinar recordings from the likes of Virginia Allum and Ros wright.

Joining EALTHY costs €55 a year and gives you access to a wide range of materials, lesson plans, articles and videos specifically for English for healthcare.
