SLC continue to support refugee doctors

SLC is delighted to be working with groups of refugee doctors through a number of different organisations, including RefuAid, the Lincolnshire Refugee Doctor Project, and Time to Help.

We provide OET Medicine and IELTS test preparation programmes, helping doctors achieve the scores they need to register with the General Medical Council (GMC) in the UK. Students come from many different countries and often have many years of practice under their belt, some of it in the most challenging of circumstances.

Given the current shortages in doctors and the huge challenges hospitals have faced over recent months, enabling refugee doctors to enter the healthcare workforce is a clear win for the NHS and the hundreds of patients each doctor sees every year.

Products

SLC provide our online courses for free, including Reach OET B Medicine, Reach IELTS and English for Doctors. We provide all online lessons at cost. Working online allows us to get highly experienced OET and IELTS preparation teachers in front of doctors wherever they may be. The online materials are constantly updated to reflect new exam criteria and evolving clinical practice.

SLC started working with groups of refugee doctors in April 2019 and have gradually expanded programmes since then. We have had a good number of passes in recent months and hope to see many more in the future. We’re delighted to have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of the doctors and their many future patients.
