We are delighted to announce that SLC has been selected by a group of NHS Trusts across North East London to prepare overseas-qualified nurses to pass OET.
The nurses concerned are currently working as healthcare assistants. Passing OET allows them to meet NMC English language requirements so they can register as nurses and work on the wards across the Trusts.
The Trusts include Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, North East London NHS Foundation Trust, and Barts Health NHS Trust.
As with the contracts to train overseas nurses in South East and South West London, these programmes are supported by Health Education England to encourage qualified nurses from other countries but living in the UK to enter the workforce at this time of urgent need.
We are incredibly pleased to be working with so many Trusts – not just in London, but in other parts of the UK too – to enable international nurses to use the skills they were trained for and ultimately care for thousands of patients across the country.
SLC works specifically with healthcare as this is where language and communication make such a difference. The work we do with NHS Trusts is a clear example of how this works in practice.
