Virginia goes deep into assessment

We’re delighted to share SLC Head of Medical English Virginia Allum’s latest achievement.

Virginia has just completed not one but three of Cambridge Assessment’s CPD courses on assessment:

  • A101 Introducing the Principles of Assessment
  • A102 Introducing Assessment Practice
  • A104 Psychometrics in Educational Assessment

Virginia is not the sort of person who does things by halves.

CPD-1

At SLC, we spend a lot of time making materials to be used by teachers preparing students to pass OET and IELTS, including online language, techniques and strategy courses and practice tests.

Virginia is our lead writer and works with our academic team to make sure our assessment-focused materials and tuition align effectively. These three professional development courses, taught by the world’s leading English language exams body, will make a considerable difference.

Virginia’s combination of healthcare expertise – she still puts in shifts as a Registered Nurse up in the Outer Hebrides where she lives – and English language writing and training is unique in English Language Teaching. She brings unparalleled experience and depth to the Medical English, OET and IELTS preparation services we provide NHS Trusts, healthcare educators and thousands of doctors, nurses and healthcare students around the world.

We are mightily privileged to have Virginia lead the Medical English team at SLC. Long may it continue.
