During May SLC Director, Peter Rodway, gave presentations on Clinical English and pathways into OET preparation to universities in Colombia, Jordan, Ukraine and Vietnam.
Peter was joined by Virginia Allum to present to faculty, students, and local government officials at St Paul Hospital Hanoi and with a view to launching 3-year Nursing English programmes with a local partner across the country.
We launched Writing for Publication, a 30-hour course giving healthcare researchers the skills and the language to publish their work in English in international publications. English is very much the lingua franca of international medical research. Writing for Publication is written by John Skelton, Emeritus Professor at the Institute of Clinical Science at the University of Birmingham and a widely published academic himself.
In Ukraine SLC are now working in partnership with Dnipro State Medical University to increase the capacity of their English department using up-to-date digital learning materials.
Peter will also be travelling to Turkey in June to work alongside SLC partner NEU Professionals to bring awareness to routes into work in the NHS in an event co-sponsored by OET and the NHS.
Finally, the first cohort of 20 nurses employed by the Devon International Alliance have completed the newly published course Living and Working in the UK and the feedback is very positive.
