A new announcement from OET means that candidates who live in a country without an OET test venue can now take OET securely from home.
This is a huge step forward for all those healthcare professionals who would otherwise have to go to another country to take their test, and excellent news for all those SLC candidates studying for OET Nursing and OET Medicine in the many parts of the world where there is no official OET test centre – from Albania to China, Kenya, Russia and Venezuela.
To see if you’re in a country where OET@Home is available, check the updated booking webpage. Just select your country and you will either be told where any in-country test centres are, or that you can take OET@Home as none are available.
What is OET@Home?
OET@Home is a remotely proctored test which enables candidates to sit the test in a secure home environment. All you need is a laptop or PC, a headset, webcam and stable internet connection. The test is delivered in partnership with Prometric, a world leader in technology-enabled testing who deliver 7 million tests a year.
How can I book and take an OET@Home test?
To book an OET@Home test, you register on the OET website. Then, nearer the time, you click on a link to check your system and download the Prometric remote testing app.
On the OET test day, you login in using the app. You are greeted by a Prometric Readiness Agent who takes you through some security checks. You then take the OET Listening, Reading and Writing papers. These are the same papers that candidates in a test centre take. You can message the Prometric Proctor at any time during your test if you need assistance.
The OET Speaking test is conducted separately on Zoom with an interlocutor, with whom you do two roleplays, just as if you were at a test centre.
